Luke Newton Talks Playing Colin, Romance with Penelope in 'Bridgerton' Season 3
Bridgerton Season 3 Star Luke Newton Dishes on Colin's Journey and Regé-Jean Page's Advice
Luke Newton, who plays Colin Bridgerton in the hit Netflix series, has revealed that former co-star Regé-Jean Page gave him some valuable advice ahead of season 3.
Newton, who has been with the show since its first season, said that Page, who played the Duke of Hastings in the first season, told him to "trust the writers." "He said, 'They know what they're doing, and they're going to take good care of you,'" Newton told Entertainment Weekly.
Newton said that Page's advice was helpful as he navigated Colin's journey in season 3. "Colin is going through a lot of changes this season," Newton said. "He's starting to find his own way in the world, and he's starting to realize that he has a lot more to offer than he thought he did."
One of the biggest changes for Colin in season 3 is his relationship with Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). The two characters have been close friends since childhood, but in season 3, they start to develop romantic feelings for each other. Newton said that he was excited to explore this new side of Colin's character.
"Colin has always been a bit of a playboy," Newton said. "But this season, he's starting to realize that there's more to life than just chasing after women. He's starting to see Penelope in a new light, and he's starting to fall for her."
Newton said that he and Coughlan have a great chemistry on-screen, and he hopes that viewers will enjoy watching Colin and Penelope's relationship develop in season 3. "I think people are going to be really excited to see what happens with Colin and Penelope this season," Newton said. "They're two of the most beloved characters on the show, and I think people are going to be rooting for them to get together."
